« Miners by Emanuel Borcescu • Miner’s Child

The installation art proposed by Emanuel Borcescu is a metaphor of Romania’s ever transitioning social realities. The mess of permanent transition certainly affects the younger generation, especially children, which remain in a continuing generation of miniature miners. The grotesque is reinterpreted in an ironic key, materializes itself in these little avatars that synthesize the social situation and shows us that this is how it is going to be from now on.
The society’s traumas remain in its DNA for several generations. Only irony can save us, by playfully rephrasing these problems and living with them.
