“The Star With a Name” is a colorful fallen polystyrene sculpture, a geometric module signed by Valentin Soare (b. 1984). He assumes both the deconstruction of the plinth as well as the irony of the entire Romanian inventory of “national values ”. The title of Soare’s sculpture “Steaua are nume” refers to the popular communist national song festival “Steaua fără nume” – “The Star without a name”. Soare points out that the new national values are still devoted to utopias which continue to be proliferated through different institutional paths. Olivia Nițiș
