The “Garden Miners” project brings to our attention an important moment in the history of Romania, the Mineriads of June 1990. The installation consisted of garden gromes miners, was exposed for one day in Bucharest, University area, near the Faculty of History, on June 10, 2015. The project was created by the visual artist Emanuel Borcescu and curated by Ioana Ciocan, and proposed a special reunion with the mineriads, less chaotic, but also sharply sarcastic. The installation has the therapeutic role of coexistence in the form of self-irony with the obsessions of the past and the irreversible historical evil facts. Only the irony, but at the same time the living memory, the power to join the candor to the grotesque can make us move on. The garden-miner gnomes, as an object of an assumed kitsch, brings in a new perspective the lucid critique of the recent history mistakes.
